Aftercare
Look after it
A new tattoo is an open wound for the first few days. Treat it gently for two weeks and it will heal clean, bright and sharp. Your artist will give you this card on the day.
Day by day
The first two weeks
01
The first hours
Leave the wrap on for two to four hours, or up to three days if we used a clear film. Wash your hands before you touch it.
02
Days two to five
Wash twice a day with warm water and unscented soap. Pat dry with clean paper towel, then a thin layer of balm.
03
Days six to fourteen
It will flake and itch. Don’t pick or scratch it. Keep moisturising lightly and keep it out of the sun.
Questions
Things people ask
Anything else, message your artist or write to hello@ninthhour.studio. Photos help.
Can I go swimming?
Not for two weeks. Pools, the sea, baths and saunas all slow healing and can lift ink.
Is it normal for it to look patchy?
Yes, while it peels. The skin underneath settles over three to four weeks. Judge it after a month, not a week.
Do you do free touch-ups?
One free touch-up within three months, as long as the aftercare was followed. Book it like any other session.
When should I worry?
Spreading redness, heat, swelling after day three or a fever mean see a doctor first, then let us know.
